En 1957, la comtesse Zoubov perd tragiquement sa fille Tatiana. C'est pour honorer sa mémoire qu'elle fait don en 1959 à l'Etat de Genève de sa collection aménagée dans l'hôtel particulier de Sellon à la rue des Granges. Cette collection est accessible au public.
