《屯門風物志》除了詳盡介紹屯門的歷史、人情風物外，還收集了近二百幅相關的圖片，有些更是1930年代的罕有圖片，對本地和世界各地研究香港及新界歷史和都市發展的學者，極具價值。劉智鵬博士與嶺南大學圖書館，徵得圖片主人同意，把這些圖片整輯，建成屯門風物志圖片庫。一方面可以讓身處世界任何角落的公眾人士，透過互聯網見證香港新界及屯門的民情風俗和歷史景物在過去半個世紀的變遷。另一方面，圖片庫的建立，更可以妥善保存這些寶貴的歷史文化遺產，提供便捷的檢索功能，讓專家學者作研究教學之用，為香港史學研究，增添一分力量。 屯門位於香港西北，是一個人口眾多的新市鎮。這裡歷史文物豐富，公元前四千年已經有居民在屯門沿海地帶生活。東晉末年杯渡禪師曾駐錫屯門青山。早在唐代，屯門已佔有中國南方交通貿易和海防一個重要位置。而相傳為昔日宋帝昰逃難藏身的皇帝巖，及國父孫中山先生作為革命基地的青山紅樓，都位於屯門區內。 嶺南大學歷史系劉智鵬博士，對屯門及香港歷史素有研究。屯門區議會轄下康樂及文化委員會，為了讓市民認識屯門及部分香港歷史文化的淵源，加強區內市民的歸屬感，於二零零零年成立工作小組，並邀請了劉博士於二零零三年編寫成《
