学問・書・詩文に優れたことから、菅公と称され、後世、天満天神として祀られており、学問の神様として現在も庶民から異例の尊崇を受けています。当時、道真公を崇拝していたある田舎の老婆が、残りご飯を天日干しして煎った飯米に飴をまぶして（お炒り）差し上げました。道真公はこれを大変喜ばれ、絶品であるとお褒めになりながら都や故郷を思いおこされたそうです。この言い伝えにより、おこし製造業者は道真公の紋所を頂戴することとなりました。 宝製菓は、この梅鉢の中心に創業の地の小字名である寶の文字を配して社章とし、梅鉢寶として愛し、これを誇りに事業経営を続けております。 梅鉢は天満宮に学問の神として祀られている菅原道真公の紋所でもあります。道真公は、平安前期の公卿・学者・文人で、宇多天皇の信頼が厚く要職を歴任しています。特に寛平6年（894）遣唐大使に任ぜられた時、航路の危険性、唐の戦乱の情勢に鑑み、中止を申請して許されておりますが、以後遣唐使が絶えたことは有名です。また、醍醐天皇時代には右大臣に任ぜられましたが、延喜元年（901）左大臣 藤原時平の策動により太宰権帥に左遷され、2年後に配所で没しました。 以来
