Taiwan Association of University Professors
1987年民間推動平反運動的二二八和平日促進會，是陳永興及《自由時代》雜誌創辦人鄭南榕等人提倡下，由台灣人權促進會、台灣基督長老教會北區聯合祈禱會、政治受難者聯誼會、謝長廷服務處、洪奇昌服務處、許國泰·張貴木服務處、許榮淑·翁金珠員林服務處、民進黨雲林縣籌備會、嘉義聯誼合會、楊雅雲服務處、黨外屏東聯誼會、台東張甲長服務處、張溫鷹服務處、高李麗珍服務處、宜蘭噶瑪蘭週刊社、自由時代週刊社等16個團體聯合發起（過去常誤為13個）。1987年2月4日由30個團體正式聯合組成。其主要旨趣包括：究明二二八事件的真相、恢復二二八事件冤罪者的名譽、以及以二二八做為台灣民眾永遠的和平祈念日。其後參與團體又有增加，至2月13日共計41個團體參與，並於同日發表宣言，主張將每年2月28日訂為和平日。其宣言要旨包括：「在『二二八事件』發生的第四十週年，我們呼籲共同來紀念這個日子，並祈求和平早日降臨。我們呼籲對該事件，得以因了解而諒解，因諒解而和解，因為和解就是邁向和平的開端。」並於次日開始進行二二八事件四十週年紀念活動。 由於相關重要成員與台灣人權促進會有密切的關係，財團法人現代學術研究基金會和財團法人台美文化
