仙台市男女共同参画推進センターは、(公財)せんだい男女共同参画財団が指定管理者として、管理・運営しています。当財団は、国内外のネットワークの構築や、仙台の現状を調査研究し地域の実態に即した政策提言を行いうる「専門性」と、男女平等推進に向けた市民の自主的な活動に対する多様な支援など、地域に根ざした事業展開を行える「地域性」を兼ね備えた新たな事業主体として平成13年に設立されました。仙台における、女性の自立及び社会参画を促進する事業並びに男女平等を阻害する様々な問題の解決を目指した市民の主体的な活動の援助育成を行うとともに、男女平等の社会的風土づくりを進め、もって「男女平等のまち・仙台」の早期実現に寄与することを目的として事業を展開しています。
