1907年（明治40年）常楠が師事していた大隈重信が、主力銘柄の酒名を「世界一統」と命名。戦災により蔵が全焼する被害を受けましたが、復興を遂げ、現在まで酒造りを続けています。 株式会社世界一統は、1884年（明治17年）に初代・南方弥右衛門が紀州藩から米蔵を譲り受け、酒造業を創業したことに始まります。
