｢天下の三名泉｣の一翼、下呂温泉。その地で代々継承された接骨医、奥田又右衛門。中でも五代目は当代屈指として名声高く、技術は神技と称えられ、全国から患者が絶え間なく訪れたといわれます。家伝の伝統薬はそれまで門外不出として固く守られていましたが、多くの患者から世に出すことを懇望され、昭和に入り｢東上田膏｣として初めて販売を始めました。それが「下呂膏」の始まりです。
