VRはその体験をするまでのハードルの高さから、独特の文化が築かれてきました。しかし、近年ヘッドマウントディスプレイを含むVR技術の進歩によって多くの人がVRに触れる機会が増えつつあります。そのような環境の中でVR空間において匿名でいる権利がプラットフォーマー側から軽視されているのではないかという問題意識や、VR独自の文化を継承し、VRユーザーへのサポートを営利によらず拡充させていく必要を感じたことからNPO法人の設立を決定いたしました。NPO法人として設立するに至ったのは、これまでユーザーや任意団体として行われてきた活動だけでなく、関連団体との連携を深めていくことによってVRユーザー全体の利益を生み出していく必要があること等の観点から、社会的にも認められた公益的な組織にしていくことが最良の策であると考えたからです。これにより組織を発展、確立するこができ、将来的にバーチャルリアリティ文化を中心としたインターネット上での自由な表現活動の発展に広く貢献できると考えています。文化の発展という目的の遂行において、当法人の活動が営利目的ではなく、多くの市民の方々に参画していただくことが不可欠である
