Ninagawa Company
1935年10月15日、埼玉県川口市生まれ。 1955年に劇団青俳に入団し、1968年に劇団現代人劇場を設立。1969年『真情あふるる軽薄さ』で演出 家デビュー。1972年 演劇集団「櫻社」を結成、1974年同劇団を解散後、『ロミオとジュリエット』で大劇場 へ進出。以後、日本を代表する演出家として、国内外の現代劇からシェイクスピア、ギリシャ悲劇など、幅 広い作品を世に送り出す。また、1983年にギリシャ・ローマで公演した『王女メディア』を機に、毎年海外 公演を行い、その活動は海外でも注目され、高い評価を得た。1988年『近松心中物語』第38回 芸術選 奨文部大臣賞をはじめ数々の賞を受賞。ロンドングローブ座のアーティスティックディレクターの一人でも あった。2006年に彩の国埼玉芸術劇場で、55歳以上の演劇集団「さいたまゴールド・シアター」を発足。 2009年には若手俳優の育成プロジェクトとして「さいたまネクスト・シアター」を開始。 2016年5月12日 肺炎による多臓器不全のため永眠。享年80歳。 他の芸術ジャンルと異なり、演劇作品は記録・継承が課題で、誰がどんな形で上演していたかすら
