現在、国内通信事業会社であるソフトバンク株式会社創業者取締役、世界をリードするマイクロプロセッサーIPのデザインを行うArm LimitedのChairman and Directorも務める。2011年3月11日発生した東日本大震災後には、自然エネルギー協議会、東日本大震災復興支援財団、自然エネルギー財団を設立。2016年12月、高い志と異能を持つ若者が才能を開花できる環境を提供し、未来を創る人材を支援することを目的とした孫正義育英財団を設立。 1981年にSBGを設立。以降、グループとして、通信、インターネットサービス、AI、スマートロボット、IoT、クリーンエネルギーなど、テクノロジー分野において幅広く事業を展開し、情報革命を牽引。2017年5月には、情報革命の最前線で変革を行う企業をサポートすることを目的とした、ソフトバンク・ビジョン・ファンドの大規模な初回クロージングを発表。
