ごあいさつ 私は1982（昭和57）年の秋に、当時小学校2年生だった長男の「正登」を、ウイルス性脳炎という病気で亡くしました。いまもって信じられないほど、あっという間の出来事でした。それまでの私は、仕事のことしか頭にありませんでしたから、家族との生活の場は相当おろそかになっていたと思います。正登が亡くなって、「あの子は、お父さんを求めていた」と妻から聞かされ愕然としました。そして、人の親としてあの子に何もしてやれなかったことを、つくづく悔やみましたが、後悔は先に立ちません。今だに正登には、本当に申し訳ないことをしてしまったと心で詫びている毎日です。このような出来事が背景にあって、この川野小児医学奨学財団が設立されました。申すまでもなく、子どもたちの無邪気な笑顔や素直な動作が世の中を明るくし、私たち大人の心を和ませてくれます。また、わが国や世界の将来を担ってくれるのも同じ子どもたちです。そのかけがえのない大切な子どもたちが、明るく健やかに成長してくれることは、親だけでなく等しくみんなの願いです。生活水準の向上、医学・医療の進歩と共に、子どもたちの健康も増進されましたが、時には「正登」のよ
