日本赤十字社（本社：東京都港区）では、国内での赤十字活動の拠点として、各都道府県に支部を設置しています。山口県内の赤十字活動を担っているのが、日本赤十字社山口県支部です。山口県支部は、明治21年10月8日に設立以来、「人道」の基本理念のもと、災害被災地等での救護活動や赤十字救急法・幼児安全法・防災減災講習等の各種講習会の開催、青少年に奉仕の心や生きる力を育む青少年赤十字活動の推進、地域での防災減災活動などを実践する赤十字ボランティアの育成、海外の発展途上国等に対する人道的支援事業、医療・血液・社会福祉活動など幅広い活動を展開しています。 多発する自然災害への対応、健康で安全な暮らしの確保、病気やけがなどで苦しまれている方々への高度で安全な医療の提供、安全な血液製剤の供給など、赤十字への期待と要請は益々高まりを見せている一方、こうした活動を支えていただく活動資金が、近年、大きく減少しています。 山口県内においても各市町、自治会・町内会、企業・団体などのご支援ご協力のもと、赤十字職員・赤十字ボランティアやJRCメンバーなどが、人間の命と健康、尊厳を守るための取組みを多用に進めています。 災
