日本赤十字社広島県支部は、明治21年（1888年）に創立しました。日清・日露戦争、第一次世界大戦・第二次世界大戦と続く様々な戦火をくぐり、そして原子爆弾による被災とその救護活動など、軍都として栄えた広島においてその使命を果たしてきました。 災害救護、救護看護師の養成、赤十字救急法等の普及、ボランティアの育成、青少年赤十字、血液事業の推進、国際活動への参加、赤十字思想の普及など、赤十字の基本理念である「人道」を基軸に、人間のいのちと健康、尊厳を守るための様々な活動を行っています。
