Japan Industrial Designers' Association
JIDAの活動は国内だけでなく海外にも及びます。現在の国連経済社会理事会の特殊諮問機関であるWDO（World Design Organization）の前身、ICSID（インダストリアルデザインの国際組織）にJIDAは1957年の発足時より関わり、現在もWDOの一員として活動しています。その後1969年に社団法人として通商産業省（現経済産業省）の認可を受けました。続く1973年には、京都において世界デザイン会議（ICSID国際会議）を開催、また1989年には再び名古屋での世界デザイン会議を開催し、2023年にもまた東京にて日本で3度目となる世界デザイン会議を開催予定です。 2005年には産業デザインに必要な素材を見本帳として提供するサンプル事業を開始、また2010年には業界に先駆けてデザイン分野の検定（プロダクトデザイン検定）を開始するなど、様々な事業を創出してきました。これらの活動が認められて2012年には公益認定を受け、公益社団法人日本インダストリアルデザイナー協会となりました。その後2021年には協会名を現在の公益社団法人日本インダストリアルデザイン協会に改名。拡張するデザイン
