私がナビゲータの開発を通して学んだことから機器開発を夢見る若いドクターたちに以下の様なメッセージをお伝えしたいと思います。 まず開発は待ってくれない。常に前進していないとすぐに他社に追い越されます。 次に、敵は必ず自分の肩から前に飛び出します。生半な特許ではすぐにかわされてしまいます。このように機器開発は常に前進する意欲を持っていなければならないのです。 では着想はどこから来るのでしょうか？やはりまずは現場からの問題意識。これを要素に分解して解決を図るのです。解決策を見出すためには、周囲への技術的な関心を常に怠らないこと。工学部の友人は必須です。そこには日の目を見ずに眠っている技術が多数あります。最後に着想を得たら、それをある程度のところまで具体化する努力をおしまないこと。言葉だけでは他の分野の人には正確にはわかってもらえません。曲がりなりにも一応は機能する試作機を作って見せなければ協力者は得られないと考えるべきです。最近はプログラム言語も取っ付き易いものが増え、３Dプリンターの普及で試作が容易にできるようになったので、若い研究者はぜひこれらを自分のものにし、開発力をつけていただきたい
