Japan Association of Mineralogical Sciences

「日本鉱物科学会」は、鉱物や岩石およびそれらをキーワードとした様々な分野の学問の発展と普及を目的とした、社会と学術界から信頼される開かれた学術団体です。2007年に「日本岩石鉱物鉱床学会」と「日本鉱物学会」が合併して発足し、2016年に一般社団法人化しました。元々、日本岩石鉱物鉱床学会では、岩石学、鉱物学，鉱床学，およびこれらと密接に関連した諸科学の発展と普及を目的とした研究等が行われておりました。また、日本鉱物学会は、元来、日本地質学会の一部として活動をしておりましたが、鉱物学のさらなる進歩・発展のため、日本地質学会から独立をし、鉱物学の基礎的テーマに加え、鉱産資源やセラミックスに代表される無機材質など応用分野での最先端の課題や社会的テーマにも取り組んできました。日本岩石鉱物鉱床学会と日本鉱物学会の合併により、学術雑誌（和文誌・英文誌）の刊行や研究集会の開催などの学会活動の拡充や、学術領域の拡大が進められてきました。年に1度の年会（成果発表会）では、地球外物質や火山、環境問題など、従来の岩石学・鉱物学の分野を超えた様々な視点からの討論が繰り広げられています。そのほか、講演会や一般普及
