In memory of BEC member Stephen Biggs who died in 2025, we have written a 15-year history of Brighton Energy Co-op. Stephen – who earned his Economics PhD at UC Berkeley – was always keen for us to write this, and it tells the story of how BEC began, the solarcoaster journey we have taken, and our contribution to the UK’s community energy movement.
