All Japan Kyokushin Union
極真空手は創始者・大山倍達が幼少の頃学んだ中国拳法や、その後修行を積んだ船越義珍師の松涛館空手、そして山口剛玄師の剛柔流などに独自の格闘技理論を加え、１９６３年、 国際空手道連盟極真会館として設立したものです。 世界１２４カ国に１２００を超える公認道場を有し、会員数およそ１２００万人。単独会派としては世界最大にまで発展する組織へと成長を遂げました。 しかし１９９４年、大山倍達が肺ガンのため急逝。これを機に後継者問題や商標問題などを巡り国内支部長間の対立が勃発し、会館は内部分裂状態となりました。 分裂後も、各派閥は自派だけが正当な極真であると主張。ところが、一般社会の視点から見れば、 それは単なる派閥争いにしか過ぎません。特にここ最近は上記の商標裁判が大きな問題となり、 各派閥は一段と自派の正当性を強く訴えているという現状でもあります。 そんな中、どこの派閥にも属さない師範たちが核となり、新たな考え方が提案されることとなりました。 「争いではなく、派閥を超えて接点見出すべきではないか・・・」。そのコンセプトのもと、派閥の垣根を取り払おうと設立されたのが、この「全日本極真連合会」なのです。
